Programs & Service
Alpha Phi Alpha deliberately meets the needs of our community through active and impactful engagement. Here is how that work shows up in South Nashville.
National Programs
The fraternity's national programs and initiatives offer tangible examples of love for all mankind. Tau Iota Lambda carries each of them out locally.
Project Alpha
One of the premier programs of the fraternal year, Project Alpha gives young men the knowledge and judgment to make responsible decisions — reaching nearly 100 young men annually.
National programGo-to-High-School, Go-to-College
Stresses the importance of a college education to Nashville youth and provides yearly visits to historically Black colleges and universities.
National programA Voteless People Is a Hopeless People
Educates citizens and youth of Nashville on the right and obligation to register, vote, and impact change through the ballot box.
National programBrother's Keeper
Advocates for and improves the quality of life of brothers, their spouses and widows who are retired, elder, disabled or ailing — and vulnerable community members.
National programWhere We Serve
Guided by our mission, the brothers of Tau Iota Lambda work to create lasting change close to home.
- Schools & mentoring. Career days, reading programs and leadership workshops that inspire the next generation to rise and lead with integrity.
- Food security. Food packing and distribution for families living in food deserts.
- March of Dimes. Raising funds to advance maternal and infant health so every child has a healthy start.
- Fatherhood. Workshops, support circles and mentoring for fathers and fathers-to-be.
